Health and Safety

Promote safety

During normal operation, gas appliances such as water heaters, clothes dryers, and furnaces release combustion gases (like carbon monoxide) through their venting systems. Leaky ductwork in your heating and cooling system may cause “backdrafting,” wherein these gases are drawn back into living space instead of being expelled to the outdoors. Sealing leaks can reduce this risk.

Enhance indoor air quality

Fumes from household and garden chemicals, insulation particles and dust can enter your duct system and aggravate asthma and allergy problems. Sealing ducts reduces the risk of pollutants entering ducts and circulating throughout your home.

We use activTek'sActivePure technology to get rid of germs on surfaces inside your home, such as doorknobs, toilets, kitchen counters and pet areas.

Save money

Leaky ducts can reduce heating and cooling system efficiency by as much as 20 percent. Sealing and insulating ducts increases efficiency, lowers your energy bills and can pay for itself in energy savings.

activTek INDUXR 2000

A Kansas State University study showed that the activTek INDUXR 2000 air scrubber is effective at reducing the following causes of infection.

  • Staph (staphylococcus aureus): 98.5% reduction. Definition: parasitic bacteria that tend to form irregular colonies. Some cause boils or life-threatening and other infections.
  • MRSA (Methycillin Resistant Staphyococcusaureus): 99.8% reduction. Definition: an infection from a strain of staph bacteria that's become resistant to the antibiotics commonly used to treat ordinary staph infections.
  • E-Coli (Escherichia coli): 98.1% reduction. Definition: a bacterium that normally resides in the human colon. Most strains are harmless, but some cause diseases that are sometimes fatal.
  • Anthrax family (Bacillus Spp.): 99.38% reduction. Definition: a large family of bacteria that includes the bacteria that cause food to spoil, as well as cause certain types of diseases.
  • Strep (Streptococcus spp.): 96.4% reduction. Definition: A type of bacterium that may infect tonsils. If untreated, infectioncan lead to rheumatic fever.
  • Pseudomonas aureuginosa: 99.0% reduction. Definition: a common bacterium that can cause disease in animals, including humans. It is found in soil, water, on skin, and in most man-made environments throughout the world.
  • Listeria Monocytogenes: 99.75% reduction. Definition: one of the most virulent food borne pathogens with 20 to 30 percent of clinical infections resulting in death. Listeriosis is responsible for approximately 2,500 illnesses and 500 deaths in the United States every year.
  • Candida Albicans: 99.92% reduction. Definition: a diploid fungus (a form of yeast ) that causes oral and genital infections in humans.Systemic fungal infections have emerged as causes of death in patients with compromised immunity (due to conditions such as AIDS, cancer chemotherapy, organ or bone marrow transplantation).
